CENELEC EN 50561-1 is a European Standard for Electromagnetic Compatibility for PLC products. It specifies limits and methods of measurement of radio disturbance characteristics for in-home communication apparatus that use the low-voltage power installation as the transmission medium. CENELEC EN 50561-1 applies to equipment that communicate over this medium in the frequency range 1,606 5 MHz to 30 MHz.
Approved in November 2012 by European countries, the CENELEC EN50561‐1 standard allows the deployment of PLC solutions while assuring the protection of broadcasting services. The Standard provides a secured CE marking and allows the emergence of products with integrated broadband PLC technology inside.
First in the world, IEEE 1901 HD-PLC equipment passed in January 2013 all tests for CENELEC EN 50561-1 Standard!
1. Dynamic frequency exclusion
Radio broadcast services are dynamically protected. PLC does not transmit in the frequency bands where radio broadcast services are detected.

2. Dynamic power control
The PLC transmission power is dynamically reduced to minimize the probability of radio disturbance. The better the PLC communication path is, the more reduced the PLC transmission power is.
The CENELEC EMC standard drastically fosters the adoption of HD-PLC technology in mass market products.
